Tasty food (Chilaquiles al chipotle ) ,and nice place . Usually it doesn’t get that busy as other cafes near by .
Some places—bars, restaurants, stores, whatever—you can just tell very clearly are a passion and a labor of love. This place is beautiful, the food is delicious, the service friendly but not intrusive. The man who served us—I assume the proprietor—did not speak English, but we managed to communicate that we were entirely happy to have him choose for us, and what we got was a flavorful chillie relleno with about seven accompaniments. We’ve had about seven fantastic meals here and this is was among the best.
Had the mixto de tamal con chilaquilles and it was great. In the states we have a lot of corn husk tamales. This one comes wrapped in a green leave similar to a spinach, but better than spinach. They offer refills on coffee too. One of the highlights for me was Geraldo our server. I am not fluent in Spanish and he was exceptionally helpful to me and my wife. The chef also came out to check on us. We felt at home eating here and would recommend it to people looking for breakfast that are vacationing in the area.
Finally, a place that doesn’t make me choose between chilaquiles and all other foods. The mixto plate came with delicious chilaquiles, a cheese tamal wrapped in swiss chard leaves, and black beans. Gerardo and his wife are so hospitable, offering bread before the meal along with various salsas and cremas to try. We really enjoyed it!
Lucked into finding this place. Less busy than some of the places around the corner. Wonderful omelette with spinach, cheese, & mushrooms.
